Have you ever heard that thoughts are magnetic? One bad thought leads to another bad thought and before you know it, your small negative thought has led you down a deep, dark hole? Now you’re breaking out into a full on sweat, your heart is pounding in your chest and you don’t know where to turn. Breathe, relax, your mind is powerful and bold and you let it carry you all the way into a bat cave.
Key words here being: YOU let it. You are in control. You are the operator of your mind. Think of your mind as a control room. Thoughts might come knocking on the door but you are the one who decides to answer that door. You are the one who decides to let it inside and you are the one who decides if you are going to let that thought take over the controls as you sit back and let it disrupt your emotional stability.
You cannot control what thoughts come to you but you can pick and choose which ones to accept. The ones you accept are the ones that you are willing to let evoke a reaction within you. The unproductive, worry filled, fear-based thoughts, you can simply acknowledge and then immediately let go. Life is short and you don’t have to time to give care to toxic thoughts or toxic people, for that matter.
Welcoming those thoughts inside is like fertilizing the weeds in your garden. So, if my control room analogy didn’t resonate with you then let’s move on to my next one, the garden.
Think of your mind as a garden. You decide which plants to keep and which plants to remove. Now imagine you consistently weed out all of the negative thoughts and nourish all of those uplifting, strong, colorful and beautiful ideas, thoughts and inspirations. Your mind is full of life and full of light. These flowers blossom and bloom even more wild than you imagined. The garden will always require your attention but if you consistently put in the work, you will have created an amazing, powerful and foundational force within yourself.
